Observe alligators sunning themselves on the shore and sentries of snowy great egrets gracing the cypress swamps and your trip will be similar to those that first settled in Mosquito County in 1825, later established as Seminole County in 1913.
With freshwater lakes and rivers on three sides, the county has 2,000 pristine spring-fed lakes and rivers as well as seven cities and four townships. The oldest city, Sanford, was founded in 1870.
